Globe University-Wausau will host a series of free job-search seminars beginning this Friday, May 4. The series, called Job Readiness 2012, is geared for job seekers of any age, education level, and career stage in the central Wisconsin region.
Local, national and international career experts will share dos and donts of career and job search success. The experts represent an eclectic mix of industries: human resource management, consulting, career counseling, communications, broadcast journalism, job skills training, and education.
Three events comprise the Job Readiness 2012 Series; participants can choose to attend one, two, or all three sessions. Upon completion of all three sessions attendees will receive a certificate.
May 4Tips and tricks for career success: Experts share resume and cover letter writing tips and discuss first steps to secure an interview. Local companies will be on site to share best practices on how to land the interview.
June 1Creating a lasting impression: Susan Guarneri, certified master branding specialist and nationally certified career counselor, presents How to Wow; job search, interview and post-interview successes. Tom Younger, director of Marathon Countys Job Center will share career success strategies.
June 29Standing out from the crowd: Inspiring keynote speakers Rene Daniels, executive director of Workforce Development, and Dave Kallaway, radio host on WIFC95.5, will share nuggets of career wisdom. This final session of the series includes a Dress for Success event, which features Wausaus resource for career fashions on a budget, Career Closet.
Our goal in developing Job Readiness 2012 was to provide the community no-cost education opportunities from experts whose successes can become lessons for our students and local residents forging new careers, said Globes Community Relations Specialist and faculty member Christine Ellis. Wed like to collaborate with businesses and other education institutions to help address local challenges like unemployment in Marathon, Portage, Lincoln and surrounding counties.
